The Aquiba team launched the new A200 smart water meter at Smart Utilities ANZ. A200 is targeted at potable water supplies but includes a Jacaranda coloured meter for recycled water.
The A200 attracted much attention as the benefits of highly accurate, high resolution consumption data became apparent. The Australian version includes the option of a ZigBee radio to connect to the ZigBee enabled smart electricity meter networks already being rolled out.
The stand included a physical demonstration of the low flow registration capability of the A200, with water flowing at less than 5 litres/hour. In addition a preview of Aquibaís Trials Management Software was well received.
The water industry in Australia seems united around the need to build intelligent water networks, one component of which is smart water metering. There was much discussion about engaging consumers and informing them of the true benefits of smart metering. Displays of usage are essential so that information can be fed back to consumers to help them manage their consumption and eliminate wastage such as leaking taps.
